Liberty Global has sold its Swedish broadband cable operation UPC Sweden to the private investment firms The Carlyle Group and Providence Equity Partners for SKr3,269 million (ˆ350.6m). Last year the consortium purchased Sweden’s largest cable operator Com Hem. The new acquisition will add another 300,000 households to the 1.4 million of Com Hem. UPC has recently signalled its intention to withdraw from some markets – it is already in the process of pulling out of France and Norway – while building its business in others.
