[30.06.2006] Bundesliga in Conax

28.06.2006

When the football season starts this fall, Bundesliga matches will be made available for TV viewers also with Conax encryption.

As Eutelsat, the satellite operator, and Arena, which holds the pay TV rights announced recently, all Bundesliga matches will be available via Eutelsat’s program package Kabelkiosk.

Conax has been cooperating with Eutelsat in providing security for the Kabelkiosk package since 2003. All Kabelkiosk viewers will now be able to enjoy Bundesliga soccer with their existing set-top-box and Conax smart card.

Kabelkiosk reaches currently over two million cable households. More than 100 independent level four cable operators and several companies from the real estate sector distribute the attractive content in their network.

With around 160 clients in 60 different countries, Conax is one of the most successful CA providers worldwide, known for providing state-of-the-art security solutions for Pay TV. In addition to security solutions for Pay TV, Conax offers e.g. the option of ordering digital television services via mobile phone text messages combined with simple secure payment without a cumbersome registration process.

“The German Bundesliga plays an important role in the Pay TV business, as one of the most interesting program offerings in Germany, and we are very pleased with the trust that Arena shows in Eutelsat and Conax as its partners. We look forward to continuing the successful cooperation with Eutelsat, providing them with CAS services, including complete technological know-how and support in securing the broadcasting of this attractive content,” says Geir Bjørndal, COO and Vice president of Conax AS.
