Premiere is to introduce pre-paid cards that will allow viewers to select individual movies and sports programmes without a regular subscription. It’s the latest move by the German pay-TV platform to shore up falling subscriber numbers in the wake of intense competition from the cable sector and the fledging DTH platform Arena. The pre-pay service will launched on December 4 and will cost ˆ2 per film and ˆ5 for an all-day sports ticket. The pre-pay cards will be available in denominations of ˆ25, ˆ50 and ˆ75. Premiere is also launching a new video-on-demand portal that will be known as Maxdome.
